本館溫泉泉質是碳酸鹽泉含鐵，也就是傳說中的「黃金湯」，泉水會變色，剛開始流出的溫泉是透明無色，接觸空氣鐵質氧化，溫泉會逐漸變為黃色。

黃金湯富含礦物質，漂浮在水面上的礦物質結晶也稱為「溫泉花」

這裡是台灣唯一碳酸鹽泉含鐵溫泉，據聞是珍貴的【生男黃金湯】
